ITIS: AN ACCREDITED TEST LABORATORY & CAB
We are very proud to announce that we have received the statement from the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) that ITIS meets all requirements and is now accredited to ISO 17025: 2017 and therefore is recognized as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB).
Accreditation is the last level of public control in the global conformity assessment system. It is designed to ensure that conformity assessment bodies (e.g. testing laboratories, inspection or certification bodies) have the technical capacity to perform their duties. Used in regulated sectors and voluntary areas, accreditation increases trust in conformity assessment. It reinforces the mutual recognition of products, services, systems, and bodies across the whole world.
The accreditation is performed by national accreditation bodies. Those accreditation bodies that have been evaluated by peers as competent can sign arrangements amongst themselves that then increase the acceptance of products and services that are traded internationally, saving manufacturers the trouble of different tests for different countries or end users.
The RvA (Raad voor Accreditatie) is the Accreditation Council in the Netherlands which manages the arrangements if they are in the field of management systems, products, services, personnel and related conformity assessment programs.
CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT BODY
Accredited laboratories that carry out conformity assessment procedures are known as Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs). Conformity assessment is the collective term for the processes that show a product meets the requirements of something, such as a standard, that is needed in order to meet a regulation or customer expectations. It not only gives the product the necessary “reports or certificates” that gives regulators and end users confidence that certain requirements are met.
ITIS is a recognized CAB with registration number L656. Tests performed at ITIS under accreditation, will be provided with the ILAC-MRA RvA mark.
So what standards ensure a CAB is competent and trusted? ISO has a range of standards designed precisely for the accreditation of CABs, developed by ISO’s committee on conformity assessment developed with stakeholders from all over the world and includes the contribution of the ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation).
